Green Smoothie Recipes Plus Some Fun and Healthy Green Food for Kids

Everyone has fun getting decked out in their green for St. Patrick's Day... how about we add a healthy twist to this tradition? There's plenty of ways to show your spirit with the food you're eating and I'm not talking about green eggs with ham!

I'm challenging you to give green smoothies a try! They are a great way to get loads of nutrients into your body in one sitting without a lot of effort. Below are two recipes to get you started if you've never made one as well as some cute ideas I've seen for the kiddos. Enjoy and let me know in the comments if you stepped up to the challenge.

Green Smoothie Directions: Combine all the ingredients from one of the recipes listed below into a blender and mix until thoroughly combined and smooth - it's that easy!

Spinach Green Smoothie:

  • 1 Cup of Ice
  • 1 Handful of Spinach
  • 1 tbs Chia Seeds
  • 1 tbs Ground Flax Seeds
  • 1 tbs Coconut Oil
  • 1/2 - 1 Cup Coconut Water
  • 1/2 Cup Rolled Oats
  • 1 Banana (broken into large pieces)
  • 1/2 Cup Pineapple (chopped)

Kale Green Smoothie:

  • 2 Cups Kale
  • 2 Cups Almond Milk
  • 1 tbs Chia Seeds
  • 1 tbs Ground Flax Seeds
  • 1 tbs Oat Bran
  • 2 Cups Fruit (of your choice)
  • 1/2 Cup Rolled Oats
