Early Bird Program
Erin Baker's Wholesome Baked Goods has partnered with Whatcom County Boys and Girls Clubs by providing breakfast to every child enrolled in the Early Bird Program. The Early Bird Program was specifically designed to meet the needs of single-parent family and low-income children who need a place to go before school. Many of the children were arriving to the program without having eaten breakfast, so Erin Baker has stepped in with a solution.
Erin Baker is not only donating breakfast every morning for every child in the program, but is personally going to each of the clubs in Whatcom County to help children understand the importance of eating breakfast. "Teaching children how to make smart nutritional choices will affect their lives now, and in the future," says Erin Baker. The United States is facing a national crisis with low fitness and high obesity rates in our young people. In fact, an estimated 17% of children in the United States are now considered obese. Boys and Girls Clubs are providing solutions to this national epidemic through engaging and fun nutritional tips, energizing sports and recreational activities.
"The Boys and Girls Clubs of Whatcom County are especially grateful to Erin Baker who has provided delicious and nutritious Baker's Breakfast Cookies to our Clubs. These exceptional products will give the kids in our Early Bird programs a healthy start to the day, and will also be a part of our Clubs' daily snack program. Thanks to Erin for CARING about our kids and their health and nutrition!" - Boys and Girls Club website.
