Did you know that almonds have 6 grams of protein per ounce? They're also awesome for making an easy plant based milk substitute! This 30 second almond milk recipe is a delicious way to start your day!

DIY almond milk recipe

Almond milk comes in handy in so many ways- and you can make it right in your own home with just 2 ingredients, almonds and water! It's a great plant based milk alternative that you can add to your cereal, granola, recipes or (our favorite) add a splash to your morning coffee.

What a lot of us don't realize is that nuts pack a lot of nutrition. For example, a handful of almonds has 6 grams of protein and 3.5 grams of fiber. They also contain healthy fats, vitamin E and even some vitamin B2. Have you ever heard that almonds are great for snacking? That's because the protein and healthy fats help satisfy your hunger.

OK- here it is... the recipe for the fastest, easiest, non-dairy milk you can easily make right in your own home!

  1. Combine 1 cup of almonds with 2 cups of water
  2. Blend on high until smooth
  3. Strain out the almond skin with a fine-mesh strainer, nut milk bag or cheesecloth
  4. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.

Optional: Add in a 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract and cinnamon for a sweeter taste

Note: you may see some other recipes that advise you to soak the almonds over night. This ultimately helps break down the nut so your blender doesn't have to work as hard- however if you have a high powered blender (I use my Vitamix) or are in a pinch then you don't have to worry about soaking them.
