Maple Pecan Pear Tarte Tatin

This one-pan dessert is perfect for any fall get together. Step up your tart game with this amazing combo of cinnamon, maple, pear and lemon! We used our Maple Pecan Homestyle Granola as a topping to add a flavorful crunch to every bite. 

Pear Tarte Tatin with Maple Pecan Granola

So what is tarte tatin? It's basically your typical tart but flipped upside down. It's named after the French hotel that served it as a signature dish. You start by caramelizing the pears in butter and maple syrup, then you add puff pastry to the top and bake it in the same caramelized pan. When it's done, just flip it onto your serving dish! Who doesn't love a one-pan dessert? We're sure glad this dessert made it's way across the pond because it's even better with some added granola clusters. 


  • 5 Brown Pears (Peeled & Halved)
  • 7 Tbsp of Butter 
  • 3/4 cup Maple Syrup
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp Salt 
  • 1/2 Lemon
  • 2 Sheets Puff Pastry (Thawed)
  • 3/4 cup Maple Pecan Homestyle Granola 


  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. 
  2. Peel and cut pears in half. Set aside. 
  3. Heat an oven safe pan on medium-high heat. 
  4. Add butter, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon and salt. 
  5. Bring to a boil and cook until the liquid has slightly thickened. 
  6. Reduce heat to medium and add lemon juice 
  7. Arrange pears in the pan and cook for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, take two sheets of puff pastry and lay them on top of each other. Roll together to form one thick sheet. Use a plate that's the same size as the pan for a guide to cut the puff pastry into a circle. 
  8. Place puff pastry on top of pan and tuck edges in. Make a slit in the center of the puff pastry. 
  9. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes or until pastry is golden brown. 
  10. Once done, lay plate over the top of the pan and turn pan over to transfer tarte to the plate. Do this quickly before the sugars caramelize and get stuck to the pan. 
  11. Sprinkle some Maple Pecan Homestyle Granola over the top and enjoy!
